Temporary Support

Temporary soil nail wallSheet pile cofferdam for canal dewateringCantilevered soldier piles below PG&E canalWhen it comes to selecting temporary excavation support systems for shallow and deep excavations, the old adage of using the right tool for the right job is especially true. Selection of the most appropriate excavation support system depends on numerous factors, including:

  • Soil/rock conditions
  • Groundwater conditions
  • Surcharge loads
  • Right-of-way limitation
  • Movement tolerance and adjacent structures
  • Subsurface utilities

With a myriad of factors to consider and many support systems to choose from, selecting the appropriate type and size of excavation support for each project is a challenging task. With years of experience in shoring and underpinning design and construction observation, SAGE is uniquely qualified to assist with the selection, sizing, and design for the right excavation support system for the right job. We provide efficient and practical project-specific solutions for variable soil, groundwater, and loading conditions. We are experienced with sheet piling, secant piles, soil nails, soldier piles, and soil-cement mixing.

We are also experienced in the design of cofferdam systems for temporary dewatering, including sheet piles, in various subsurface conditions, including tidal conditions.
